Jay Marks
Immigration Attorney,

Bienvenidos a América

"Let justice roll down like water and righteousness like a might stream." These are not just words, but a credo for Jay Marks, our resident expert in immigration law, who has been defending the rights of immigrants in court since 1996. Together with his law partner, who defends the constitutional rights of the accused, Jay labors every day to make the promise of American justice a reality for the immigrants who build our nation, generation after generation.

On Bienvenidos America, Jay provides answers to America's toughest immigration questions, live and un-edited. Jay and program host Mario Sol discuss, comment, and analyze immigration current events, public policy, and trends in immigration law.

Jay is a 1991 graduate of the Washington College of Law at American University in Washington, DC, where he won the first asylum case of the recently-inaugurated  Immigration and International Human Rights Law Clinic.

An active member of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyer's Association, Jay has served as a chapter liaison to the Immigration Judges at the Baltimore Immigration Court and the Baltimore office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Jay has also been invited to speak at local, national, and international conferences.

A native of Fairfield, Connecticut, Jay obtained his B.A. in International Relations and Latin American Studies from the School of International Service at American University in 1984, and his Master of Arts degrees in International Relations and Latin American Studies from the University of Chicago in 1988.

He and his wife, Lupe, and their two children, Benjamin and Gabriel, live in Silver Spring, Maryland
